Hardneck Garlic Bulbs - Seed Garlic
Hardneck Garlic Bulbs - Seed Garlic
A generous half pound of beautiful seed garlic, grown with regenerative organic practices in my garden. This is hardneck garlic, a mix of the varieties German Extra-Hardy and Music (which according to Johnny’s Seeds is a variation of German Extra-Hardy). One half pound is 2-3 heads, between 8-13 cloves. The cloves of this garlic, which I have been growing and saving for well over 10 years, are humongous, equal to 2-4 cloves of regular softneck garlic!
These garlics grow wonderful scapes each early summer.
Plant in fall, late September to mid November, for best growth the next year. Don’t save them to plant in spring; they won’t grow right! Harvest scapes in June-July when they are curled, and pull garlic bulbs once several leaves on each plant begin turning yellow, usually mid-late July in northern New England.
Shipped right away unless you also order peony roots, in which case the garlic will ship in October-early November with the peonies. If you wish to order both and receive the garlic earlier, please place separate orders for each.
